Amazon just made the Prime badge a setting on someone else's checkout.
The company said Thursday that U.S. merchants on Multichannel Fulfillment, including hundreds of thousands of existing MCF sellers, can add fast, free Prime delivery on their own websites at no extra cost to them or their shoppers. Setup is 70% faster on average than turning on standalone Buy with Prime, Amazon said, with no change to payments, order management, or store policies. The Business Wire release timed the launch at 6:01 a.m. ET.
The product split matters. Buy with Prime still lets Amazon run the post-purchase experience, including customer service and returns. The new MCF option leaves those with the merchant. Prime membership is checked after checkout, so the shopper does not have to log into Amazon on the merchant site. Among early adopters, Amazon said more than 40% of eligible orders on average have already shipped with Prime delivery.
The second offer is the volume funnel. The MCF Preferred Pricing Program combines a discount on MCF fulfillment fees with FBA credits per unit shipped. Together, merchants can save 15% to 25% on fulfillment fees for the first six months, with no contracts, one-click enrollment in Seller Central, and discounts that apply when they ship. That is a classic adoption mechanic: cut take-rate now, pull more off-Amazon volume onto Amazon's network, then let utilization do the rest.
Gabriella Luksander, general manager at Skinnies Instant Lifts, is the named proof point in both the newsroom post and the wire. She said Prime on the brand site changed first-time-buyer confidence, sales rose nearly 10%, orders go out in about a day and a half, and "where is my order" inquiries nearly disappeared. Treat that as a vendor-supplied case, not a category average. Amazon also cited a survey in which 40% of Prime members said they are more likely to make a first purchase from a site showing the Prime logo, and 50% are more likely to buy again from sites offering Prime delivery. Those figures are Amazon's, not an independent panel.
Integration is Shopify-first. Merchants can turn it on through the Amazon MCF and Buy with Prime app, with Amazon's Selling Partner API as another path and partners Fulfil, LingXing, and WebBee "launching soon." Peter Larsen, vice president of Amazon Supply Chain Services, said merchants want the logistics everywhere they sell because it is fast, reliable, and keeps inventory in one place. Amazon's own MCF-plus-FBA math for U.S. sellers is a 19% drop in out-of-stocks, 12% better inventory turnover, and more than an 18% sales or revenue lift after adding MCF to off-Amazon channels. Those are Amazon-reported averages.
Newsquawk's morning note read the six-month discount as lock-in, not a near-term earnings event. The competitive pressure sits on standalone 3PLs and parcel carriers whose merchant relationships Amazon is intermediating. MCF already runs in 11 countries. This U.S. badge-and-discount pair is how Amazon turns that network from a warehouse option into the default off-Amazon promise.
If you already sit in MCF, the decision is whether the badge is worth more gravity toward Amazon's inventory pool. If you do not, the comparison is no longer Amazon.com versus your site. It is whether your own checkout can show a Prime promise without handing Amazon the return desk. Price that trade before peak, because the six-month clock starts when you enroll, not when holiday volume arrives.
